Master of Arts in Biblical Studies
A graduate-level program equipping Christian men and women in Haiti for ministry and a lifetime of service to Christ.
The program
The Master of Arts in Biblical Studies equips Christian men and women for ministry and lifelong service to Christ.
The program focuses on developing skills in biblical interpretation and exegesis in the original languages. Students will develop the ability to think theologically and apply the biblical text in their own contexts — learning to read Scripture deeply and minister faithfully within the Haitian church.
Program outcomes
Students who complete the Master of Arts in Biblical Studies degree will be able to:
Understand and articulate the key themes of the Old and New Testaments and their implications for a life of faith.
Thoughtfully interpret the biblical text in the original languages, using methods and approaches that lead to sound interpretation and application of the text.
Articulate a theology that grows out of a foundation in the biblical text, reflects an appreciation for the historical heritage of the Church, and affirms the historical orthodoxy of the Christian faith.
Reflect critically on and respond biblically to key aspects of the Haitian culture in which they minister, gaining awareness of God's work establishing his kingdom in Haiti and around the world.
Why it matters
Students learn to read Scripture in the original languages, with training in biblical interpretation and exegesis alongside theological studies shaped for the Haitian context.
Emmaus University is recognized by the Haitian government and is the only school in Haiti with CETA accreditation — opening the door for graduates to pursue advanced degrees and strengthen theological education across the country.
